Days of Wine and Popes
Preparing for the Pope!
We are excited about Pope Francis’ visit to Philly, and are thus showcasing people and events of historical, papal import – through wine! Join us for three tasting events on the trails of Popes, exile, crusades, pageantry, and gallantry.
For our third tasting, we turn our focus to Pope Francis, himself. We will sample Bonarda from his birthplace of Argentina and taste Garnacha from Spain where this first Jesuit Pope completed his Jesuit training. We’ll drink Spätburgunder from Germany, the home of his predecessor, and Grechetto from Italy’s Umbria, where Francis of Assisi – the “Francis” of Pope Francis – was born. In salute to our own countryside - and in homage to the Philly visit - we will taste the white blend, La Prima Donna, from The Farmer (aka Anthony) of Va La Vineyards.
This tasting will be led by Jill Weber, Jet's owner and Wining Archaeologist, as part of our Global Vineyard Passport Series. Your ticket entitles you to our 5-wine tasting and light snacks, plus 15% off your evening's bar tab.
