ABOUT ABOUT

Where did wine originate?

Join Jill Weber, Archaeologist and owner of Jet Wine Bar, on a journey that is part travelogue, part ancient history, and wholly delicious.

We'll taste wines from along the trail of its early origins in the modern Republic of Georgia, follow its spread across Armenia, move to its production for kings and trade in Lebanon, and onwards to Greece- from where much of its modern production can be traced.

Along the way we'll learn about the ancient vessels in which wine was made, see one of the earliest "wineries" ever discovered, find out why the Romans built a temple for Bacchus in the Beka'a Valley of Lebanon, and discover the Greek's formula for civilized drinking.

Most importantly, we'll be drinking 5, distinctive wines that successfully blend their ancient origins with their modern philosophy.

This even is part of Philly Wine Week.
