ABOUT ABOUT

Tasting from the Source

Where and when did wine-making begin?  Its history is still emerging, but our current understanding places the Caucasus region - with its wild progenitors to the wine grape -at the heart of the matter.  We'll trace those beginnings from its earliest evidence in the Republic of Georgia ca 6000 BC south to Armenia where, by 4000 BC, the world's first, known, wine-production facility was found.  Millennia later, both countries are still making wine, often using the same, UNESCO World-Heritage recognized techniques.

Join us as Jill, our Wining Archaeologist, leads us on a journey through 5 wines from Georgia, Armenia, and a rogue Georgian grape from the Finger Lakes.  We'll explore some culture and landmarks along the way.

We plan to sample grapes like Rkatsiteli and Areni Noir, wines from the ancient Kvevri technology and modern interpretations.  Can you taste the history?  Come try for yourself!

This tasting is part of our Global Vineyard Passport Series.  Your $25 ticket entitles you to our 5-wine tasting plus light snacks, as well as 15% off your evening's bar tab.
