Merlot and more Merlot
It's time to rediscover Merlot. We are well past Sideways and ready to fall back in love with its dusty plums, soft, round tannins, and velvety feel.
The Merlot grape is grown all over the world, and we'll follow it from one of its sources in Aquitaine to the (movie) scene of its shame in Santa Barbara. Certainly France and California are well-known regions for Merlot, but we'll also take you through its elegant expression in Friuli, its emergence in Thracian Bulgaria (land of Spartacus!), and its fantastic production in Pennsylvania.
Join us as Jill, our Wining Archaeologist, leads us on a journey through 5 wines from around the world, and explores some culture and landmarks along the way.
We plan to sample Merlot from:
- Petit Enira (Bulgaria)
- Karamoor (Pennsylvania)
- Perusini (Friuli)
- Happy Canyon (Santa Barbara)
- Chateau Castaing (Cotes du Bourg, Bordeaux)
