Women and Wine
The Democratic National Convention is coming to Philly for an historic moment: Hillary Clinton will become the first, female, presidential-candidate for a major party (apologies to Jill Stein). We'll celebrate that first by looking at other "female firsts". Surely you've heard of Sandra Day O'Connor, but what about Gertrude Bell? or Mathilda di Cannosa? Come learn about these women and more, and also what makes them historically significant.
How will we celebrate these firsts? With wine, of course! We'll sample 5 wines from women winemakers and female owned- or managed- wineries, from regions associated with our "female firsts".
We'll sample these five wines*:
- Cesani Vernaccia, Italy
- Dr H Thanisch Riesling, Germany
- Bonny Doon Syrah, California
- Crios Tannat, Argentina
- Domaine Wardy Les Terroirs , Lebanon
